Six members of the Albuquerque/Santa Fe Urban Sketchers showed up on Saturday July 18th to do some sketching at the rail yards in Santa Fe. After sketching for two hours, the group assembled for a show and tell and for lunch. A good time was had by all.
I have been toying with the idea of trying to make my own sketchbook for quite some time. Recently I came upon a blog written by an illustrator by the name of Dani Jones. In her blog she gives step-by-step instructions on how to make your own sketchbook. After finishing the last page of my old sketchbook and being unable to find my favorite brand in any of the art supply stores around town, I decided to give making my own a try. I was actually quite pleased with my first attempts at this. I made one book for wet media and another for dry media that contains pages with different color drawing paper. The entire project only cost me a couple of bucks and all the materials are available at the Hobby Lobby…and it was fun!
Happy Sketching! See you all at the next meeting.
