October 21, Albuquerque Botanical Garden

The Albuquerque Botanical Garden is always a favorite venue for our group.  We will gather at the main entrance at 10:00, do our usual two hours of sketching and then share around noon.  For those who want to have lunch, I believe there is a restaurant on-site.

PLEASE NOTE:  We will be meeting on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1st starting at 10:00 AM at the Albuquerque Railyard Grower’s Market located at 777 1st Street, Albuquerque

IMPORTANT:  BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS/STOOLS TO SIT ON WHILE SKETCHING.  Last year, it was brought to our attention that some of our members were taking up table space of paying customers.

This venu provides lots of variety for sketching:  architecture, still life displays of beautiful vegetables, and people.    Hope to see you there.

September 9th, El Rancho de las Golondrinas

This “living” history museum is a beautiful place to sketch.  You can check out their web-site for more information  and directions.  There is an admission cost of $6 for adults, $4 for Seniors.  If you plan to stay into the afternoon ( there is so much to capture in your sketchbook) bring your own picnic as there are no food vendors on non-festival weekends.  There are covered picnic areas and bathroom facilities.

August 19, Unser Racing Museum

Discover the history, science and engineering of car racing and capture it in your sketchbook.  On SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, we will gather at the UNSER RACING MUSEUM, 1776 Montano Road, NW, Albuquerque.  Yes, there is admission:  $10 adults and $6 seniors.  It will be fun to try our hand at sketching the cars.

We will meet at 10:00 AM and do our usual.  Hope to see you there.

July 29, Open Space Visitors Center

Interspersed throughout the City of Albuquerque are several treasures of Open Space where wildlife and natural habitats are promoted and supported.  On July 29, we will be sketching at the OPEN SPACE VISITORS CENTER, 6500 Coors Blvd. NW in Albuquerque.  Please join us at 10:00 AM to sketch.  There are stunning views of the Sandias, fields and the cozy gardens around the Visitors Center.

July 8, UNM Campus

UNM has a beautiful campus with a lovely assortment of architecture.  Let’s meet at POPEJOY HALL, 203 Cornell Drive, NE, Albuquerque @ 10:00.  I believe there is parking in the lot across the Central Avenue from the Frontier Restaurant.  You might have to pay for parking.

We will sketch for 2 hours, meet at NOON to share what we’ve done.

June 17, Santa Fe Plaza

We are heading to Santa Fe  and the Historic Plaza to capture in our sketchbooks, this wonderful spot in this “Land of Enchantment.”  We will meet by the BANDSTAND, Saturday, June 17 starting at 10:00 AM.  Parking is more reasonable in the city parking lots and garages.  You can also park for free in the PERA parking lot across from the State Capitol Rotunda Building  (Old Santa Fe Train and Paseo Peralta) but you will have to walk to the plaza  a few blocks away.

We will do our usual sketching for 2 hours, meet at Noon to share.  There are tasty and affordable places and food trucks to have  lunch on or near the plaza.

May 27, Rio Grande Nature Preserve

Rio Grande Nature Preserve, 2901 CANDLARIA ROAD, NW, Albuquerque. We will gather by the parking lot entrance to the preserve at 10 AM.  There is a $3 parking fee.  We will sketch for 2 hours and then share.

This is a lovely setting along the Rio Grande.  There are many trails with viewing areas.  Be prepared to do a little walking and don’t forget to bring your stool.
